NextEra procures wind turbines from GE Vernova, Vestas, and Siemens Gamesa — each OEM’s supply chain manages forging procurement for tower flanges and bearing rings. Indian forging manufacturers access NextEra’s procurement indirectly through these turbine OEM supply chains.

Volume: A typical NextEra 300 MW onshore wind farm uses approximately 75 turbines at 4 MW each approximately 900 ring-rolled forgings per project. NextEra develops 2–4 GW of new wind capacity annually, generating 13,500–27,000 individual ring-rolled forgings per year through turbine OEM supply chains.

The supply chain has four steps: (1) Vinir produces the ring-rolled S355NL flange, conducts heat treatment and Charpy testing, and ships to the US port – Chennai to Houston or Corpus Christi, 22–26 days ocean transit. (2) The US tower manufacturer (Arcosa Wind Towers, CS Wind US) receives the flange, welds it to the tower section, and applies the coating system. (3) The tower section ships to the wind farm site by road. (4) The tower is erected at the NextEra wind farm with flange connections to the foundation and adjacent tower sections. NextEra never directly purchases the flange it purchases a complete wind turbine from GE Vernova, Vestas, or Siemens Gamesa, whose supply chains include the tower manufacturer, who sources flanges from approved Indian ring rolling manufacturers.
