ASTM A694 F65 — minimum yield 65,000 psi (448 MPa) is the standard for high-pressure pipeline flange and structural fitting forgings on GoM platforms. Charpy impact at -20°F (-29°C) is mandatory per ASTM A694 – verifying toughness at the lowest expected GoM ambient temperature.

Duplex stainless for seawater systems: Topside seawater system flanges and fittings use duplex 2205 (A182 F51). NORSOK M-630 corrosion testing (G48 at 22°C) is required by most GoM operators for duplex flanges in seawater service.

API 20B is the qualification standard for the forging manufacturer’s quality system and product it governs how the forging is made and tested. DNV OS-F101 is the design and construction standard for subsea pipelines it specifies what properties the finished pipeline system must achieve. For individual forging components within a DNV OS-F101 pipeline system, the forging manufacturer must meet both API 20B (manufacturer qualification) and the material and NDE requirements of DNV OS-F101 (product requirements). In practice, DNV OS-F101 adds: specific Charpy impact at -60°C for some service temperatures, supplementary chemistry restrictions for sour service, and DNV class notation on material certificates.
